President of Azerbaijan: "In liberated territories there is a great need for infrastructure development"
"This is a good opportunity to exchange views on our future cooperation and to plan our joint steps. Up until now, the collaboration has been very successful. I just looked at the information. We have implemented 47 projects, some of which have still been implemented".
According to APA, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev declared this on April 1 receiving Sebastian Molineusu, World Bank Regional Director.
President said that the total package was about $4 billion: "I want to thank you for your support in very important areas of our development, infrastructure. I would also like to thank you for your support in funding TANAP. This was very important both from a financial point of view and in terms of signalling to other financial institutions. I’m very glad that the project was already started".
Having said that Southern Gas Corridor operates exactly three months, the President of Azerbaijan said that it was only the beginning: "Of course, we are very proud of the improvement of our positions in "Doing Business" program. We are ranked 28th out of 191 countries. This is indeed an important achievement for us. However, of course, we will continue the reforms, and I am sure that we will discuss this at our meeting".
The Head of State noted that, at the same time, new opportunities were opening up in the liberated territories: "There is a great need for infrastructure development. The entire infrastructure has been destroyed, and in order to get people back, we have to clear the mines and then rebuild the facilities, of course. Without infrastructure projects, the return of IDPs and refugees will not be possible. herefore, in these questions we are counting on cooperation with the World Bank, - said President Ilham Aliyev."
